Romantic Picnic Cheese Plate

Sunset, picnic blanket, and romantic music optional. You don't need to live in a romcom to enjoy a "treat yourself" kind of meal. This cheese plate features fun ingredients that are both delectable and nutritious. Who would have guessed that a romantic meal could be totally balanced?

Time: 10 minutes

Serves: 1


  • 1 serving of whole wheat crackers
  • 1-2 Persian cucumbers, washed and sliced
  • 1/2-1 cup fresh raspberries, washed
  • 1 small cara cara orange, washed and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp - 1/4 cup pistachios
  • 1 oz cheese of your preference (I used aged white cheddar)


      • Assemble all ingredients and enjoy immediately, or store in a food storage container and refrigerate

         Recipe Modifications:

        • Gluten-free: Use gluten-free crackers
        • Nut-free: Use sunflower seeds instead of pistachios
        • Vegetarian: None
        • Vegan: Use a plant-based cheese of your choice

        Recipe Notes:

        • Cucumber alternatives: 1/2 an English or regular cucumber, or another vegetable that can be enjoyed raw (celery stalks, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, baby bell peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, jicama)
        • Raspberry alternatives: any other type of berry you prefer, or a fruit that can be enjoyed raw (grapes, apple slices, pear slices). *Note: it is best to wash berries just prior to serving for optimal freshness
        • Cara cara alternatives: any other type of citrus you prefer (navel oranges, mandarin oranges, clementines)
        • Cracker alternatives: pretzels, pita chips, tortilla chips
        • Cheese alternatives: any other type of hard or soft cheese you prefer (goat cheese, brie, mozzarella, pepper jack)
