Weight & Body Composition Statement

Dear Club Heldie members,

You may have noticed that our app includes elements that may be upsetting or discouraging to those working to improve their relationship with their body. Creating a profile requires inputting weight and height, “calories burned” are automatically tracked, and body composition is an available progress metric, to name a few examples. These are things we are working to remove entirely from the app or at least make optional, as we believe focusing on other factors related to training and fitness (improvements in strength, flexibility, and endurance, for example) creates a much more positive and inclusive training environment.

Club Heldie works with a company that provides a basic framework for a fitness-focused app. While there are some features we can customize to align with our brand, there are some we cannot change at this current time. We have expressed our concerns about this issue to the company and will continue to work with them until it is resolved.

We want to stress that the mission of our app and community has never been to change our members’ weight or appearance. Instead, we want them to use it as a means to feel strong and healthy at any size.

While we work to improve this situation, our suggestion is to adjust the weight section to a random number (ex: 10 lbs) and pay little attention to the calories burned. If you have any other ideas for how I can help make this a more positive experience for you, please don't hesitate to send us an email at support@heldie.co.

Thank you for your patience as we work out kinks and continue to improve our app. People of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and beliefs will always be welcome here.
